ETHNICITY: Indian

"I think how people perceive me really depends on where I’m coming from. In college and bigger cities, people may recognize that I’m of Indian origin. Back in my home of Kentucky, I think people of a different skin tone are sometimes seen as being of Hispanic descent..."

"I think the way society kind of works is that we tend to always find an out group that really doesn’t look like us. There will always be kind of this construction of an out group that people can identify themselves with. Growing up in a place where race wasn’t a big part of my identity, I’d forget most of the time that I was of a different race from my white peers, but here in college I've really been forced to grapple with how my race is ultimately different from many of my peers and how that has shaped who I am."
